Providing effective Activity Therapy for Alzheimer’s & Dementia clients in an enjoyable & cost effective programme

Activity Therapy Staff Training-Alzheimer’s/Dementia Navan 11th February 2015
In
Ardboyne Hotel, Navan, Co Meath  AD Template

This is a staff training course for professionals in residential home elder care. The course teaches staff how to provide activity therapy for patients with Alzheimer’s and Dementia based on the successful ImaginationGYM methodology. Providing activity therapy can be quite a difficult task for many staff and the course will not only teach staff how to deliver effective activity therapy but will also provide evidence and case studies on our research in this area.
The course is approved as Category 1 Training with the Nurses and Midwifery Board with 10 credits for registered nurses that complete our training. The course is also suitable for Activity Therapists/Coordinators and other carers working with the elderly in residential care
Please Ring Rosaleen on 01 6753522 for immediate information or click on this link : Navan Training Course

This is a very cost effective way of delivering an activity program in your Nursing Home on a regular basis. After initial training and set up costs, annualised costs per capita for each workshop can be measured in cents. We recommend the programme is run at least once a week for clients as it has a progressively beneficial impact. Key outcomes included:
Reduction of stress
Increased engagement
Improved communication
Helpful behaviour management
A very enjoyable experience for both clients & staff
Stimulation of all senses
Group work
Cumulative positive affects over time.

The programme is successful because the workshops are run to a fixed methodology. The initial training is necessary to impart this methodology to staff. Training is held on 2 separate days approximately 3 weeks apart. The second training day is Wednesday 4th March 2015. Ongoing support is also available as part of the initial training commitment.

About ImaginationGYM
ImaginationGYM was established in 1999 to develop creativity programmes for children and their carers. As the methodology developed it was adapted into therapy programmes for adults and children across a range of disciplines and challenges. Research has continued throughout the programme’s development in collaboration with education, medical and therapeutic professionals and primary, secondary and third level institutions. In 2013 a programme for Alzheimer’s and Dementia clients in residential care was launched and has since been adopted by over 100 Irish nursing homes. Research on developing programmes for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities commenced in 1998 (case studies available). A full programme for Adults with Intellectual Difficulties was launched last quarter 2014. ImaginationGYM programmes are available in 6 languages including English and Irish.
